AT THE HEART OF
THE COMMUNITY

OUR COMMUNITY

It’s a simple philosophy: a team is only as strong as its weakest link. That’s why we support projects that benefit our local community and provide significant impact for those who need it most – whether they are socially and financially disadvantaged, socially isolated or have other high needs. So no one is left behind, and we are all stronger for it.

COMMUNITY POINTS FOR GOOD

Members have the opportunity to donate their points to all sorts of charitable causes as part of the Community Points for Good programme.

STREETWORK AUSTRALIA

TURNING YOUNG LIVES AROUND

StreetWork is a non-denominational, for-purpose, community organisation working with ‘at risk’ young people affected by crime, mental health issues, violence, destructive relationships, social isolation, homelessness, those disengaged from school or with poor employment opportunities and those impacted by alcohol and substance abuse, to turn their lives around.

At StreetWork we seek to give ‘at risk’ young people the same opportunities as their peers .. that is to grow, to achieve their dreams and to develop as a person with high self esteem.

Our flagship program, is a one-on-one mentoring which we call KickStart, which aims to break the cycle of destructive behaviours and help them turn their lives around.

YOUTH OFF THE STREETS

STREET OUTREACH PROGRAM

Through our community ClubGrants, The Alcott is delighted to be supporting Father Chris Riley’s Youth off the Streets is helping young people connect with their peers and relate to their families, and building stronger communities in the process.

Through our Street Walk program we make contact and connections with young people living on the streets.

From Sunday to Thursday each week Street Walk staff and volunteers are a night-time presence on Sydney streets. The young people we meet are between the ages of 13 and 22. They’re either chronically homeless or at risk of homelessness.

The outreach we make with young people through Street Walk is vital. It’s a key part of what we do at Youth Off The Streets.

LOWER NORTH SHORE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE NETWORK

The Lower North Shore Domestic Violence Network was established in the early to mid 1990s. The Network was established to provide DV workers and people in related services with a forum to discuss issues affecting their client base; to devise strategies to promote community awareness of DV in the region; and exchange information that will assist practitioners reduce the incidence and impact of domestic violence within the Lower North Shore.

The Network is a non-Incorporated entity that is dependent on the good will of member organisations and funding providers to meet on a regular basis and to undertake projects in the Lower North Shore area.  The Network is directly linked through its membership with similar networks in the Greater Northern Sydney Region and with peak bodies within the Community Services sector.  The Network is represented on the Northern Sydney Regional Reference Group for Violence Against Women (RRVAW) and strategic partners include Local Government, and service providers from both the state government and community sectors.
